One Step Forward

Most of my commercial photo shoots do not affect me emotionally. But, last week, I had the opportunity to witness and photograph a new technology that is actually helping paraplegics walk! A local hospital has implemented a rehabilitation program utilizing a bionic brace that gives the injured patient the ability to stand and walk with the caring assistance of trained therapists. Information of the patient's progress is electronically gathered and submitted for study during the walking sessions. The hope is that this new device will eventually be brought into the homes and personal lives of paraplegics to give them some independence and improve the quality of their lives.
