Big School

I photographed a huge middle school in the San Fernando Valley this morning for their new website. With enrollment at about 2200, they are currently over their capacity by about 600 and have to bus some students to nearby schools. Though this image only shows a few of the early arriving students, the campus is a shining example of overcrowding in our school system. And despite the best efforts of teachers and administrators, there's just not enough individual attention available.

Morning Workout

The early morning workouts at Santa Anita Race Track are pretty fun to watch and a great place to photograph interesting subject matter. It was a picture-perfect day, but I really liked this pre-dawn image of a speeding grey thoroughbred shot with a slow shutter speed to capture some movement. I think it has an almost ghostly appearance.

Inspired

I'm not sure why, but I'm always inspired to get out and shoot when there's fog. Something about the mood it creates. So I got up early this morning and searched for some local subject matter that would look cool in the fog. (These were shot mostly with my lensbaby to really enhance the moodiness.)
