Winners & Losers

David beat Goliath. The NY Giants defeated the previously unbeaten New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. I'm not a fan of either team, but I felt a sense of vindication that the Patriots lost. They have been accused of cheating, and in the 2002 Super Bowl, they beat a far superior Rams team ("The Greatest Show on Turf"). There are allegations that the Patriots videotaped the final walk-through practice of the Rams before the game. It's really the only explanation for their game plan that day. They must have known the Rams scheme in advance.
Late in yesterday's game, I really expected Giant quarterback Eli Manning to make a mistake. But he came through in the clutch and connected on the winning touchdown pass with less than a minute to play. Patriots coach Bill Belichick left the field when there was still one second on the clock. He's not only a cheater, but a sore loser. Congratulations to the New York Giants!
